Jen and Jon are high school sweethearts hailing from the Windy City, which you'll instantly pick up on the moment you walk into their adorable apartment and take a look around. It's filled with Chicago sports memorabilia, photos and trinkets from their adventures, and indications of their love for their college alma maters (U. of Maryland and Bucknell, respectively). After college, their careers brought them to Washington D.C., and with our nation's capital being a favorite road trip destination of mine, I was thrilled when they contacted me to photograph their engagement session.
On Saturday, Josh and I hit up Founding Farmers for a delicious brunch and did a quick tour of some monuments and memorials, then I headed to D.C.'s young and vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood to meet Jen and Jon. I love when we're able to create an atmosphere for engagement photos that is very authentic to the couple and having a few photographs taken in the space where you live is certainly a fun and unique way to do just that.
We decided to take a walk around the area for a change of scenery and found some really great backdrops for photos...
I just loved Jen's nervous laughter and those fabulous curls. Isn't she gorgeous?!
As we made our way around the block, we decided a stop for a drink was in order. Pearl Dive Oyster Palace had the perfect (empty) patio for these photos, which ended up being some of my favorites from the day...
Jon+Jen :: Thank you, thank you, thank you for inviting me to share in and document this little piece of your lives. Wishing you two a smooth planning process as you prepare for your wedding and all the happiness in the world! xoxo
