There's not much better than sitting down at the computer on a Monday morning to find one of your beautiful couples displayed on The Knot. I was ecstatic to see my dear friends Adam and Lily's images from their special day on one of the most recognized wedding websites! Be sure to check out their feature here.
I know many of you are anxiously waiting to see photos from Adam+Lily's beautiful south Mississippi wedding this past weekend, and there's good news and bad news:
The bad news is that you'll have to wait to just a couple more days to see more photos of the lovely couple. Patience, people... patience.
The good news is that today I'm sharing a few images from our mini impromptu bridal session and her lovely bridesmaids' luncheon.
The weekend of these bridal portraits and their engagement session was the first time I had ever met Lily. I'd heard Adam talk about this amazing girl he was so in love with for months, and with all that chatter about how great she is, he'd set my expectations pretty darn high. But you wanna know what? Lily lived up to every single great thing Adam had to say about her. The girl has got it all... she's gorgeous, kind, funny, a great cook (anybody try the cinnamon peach ice cream at the reception???), and we chummed it up just like old pals.
And considering my use of the word "chummed," which I've never said before in my life, I've obviously been watching wayyy to much of the London Olympics. But I digress.
I'm so glad Lily and Adam found each other, and even more excited to say that I've gained a way awesome new friend.
On the morning of the wedding, in true southern tradition, Lily had a bridesmaids' luncheon with all the closest ladies in her life. The tone was fun and relaxed and featured some amazing food catered by Marilyn Fuquay of Laurel.
As a gift to Lily's bridesmaids, Adam created these amazing pieces of art, all cut from the same painting. Be sure to check out his work here.
Watch out for more photos from the wedding later this week!
I've known Adam since I started going to St. John's Day School in the 5th grade. Back in those days, I was terribly shy (my how the times have changed) and the new kid in school, but once I got to high school, Adam and I became good friends, and I'm thankful to have him on my short list of people I still catch up with on a regular basis. We share the same sarcastic sense of humor (he may even be a bit alot worse than me), and being the AMAZING artist he is (seriously, check out his work), he's a great sounding board for my own crazy creative endeavors.
Adam and Lily were introduced last year by a mutual friend who just knew they'd be perfect for each other. They were both living in Alabama, she in Birmingham and he on a sailboat in Fairhope, when they started dating and it didn't take long for them to realize that they should be together... forever.
I've never really been able to imagine what kind of girl Adam would end up marrying, but it was completely obvious when I met Lily this weekend that she's the kind of girl Adam needs in his life. She's kind, funny, and chatted it up with me and Miranda (my dear friend and assistant for the weekend) like we'd known each other forever (we're all best friends now, in case you were wondering). She and Adam are all smiles and laughs when they're together, and they have that kind of easy, comfortable love that usually evolves only after years of being with each other.
I had so much fun with them at their beautiful new home in historic downtown Laurel (their decor is GORGEOUS and definitely belongs in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens) and of course, on Adam's sailboat... I threatened to throw a full-on-kicking-screaming-crying temper tantrum if I didn't get to photograph them on the boat, so they obliged :)
Aren't they just perfect?! I may or may not have gotten a little teary eyed just looking through their images... be prepared for the waterworks on wedding day, folks.
A tiny peek at their lovely wedding invitations designed by the incredible, internationally-recognized Lucky Luxe Couture Correspondence based in my little hometown.
My goodness Lily, you are simply STUNNING. Seriously though... you could be a model.
Adam+Lily :: Thank you for being such awesome friends and giving me a place to stay while in Laurel :) I am so honored to be the one to document this very exciting time in your lives, and I can't wait to see you again at your WEDDING (ahhhh!!!) in just a few weeks! Love to you both!!!
