happy anniversary kyle+jennifer :: mississippi wedding photographer

I can't believe it's honestly been a whole year since Jennifer+Kyle's wedding at the Rogers-Green House, which was one of our most fun parties to date! Their event was my first wedding to photograph in my hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, and I am also so excited that they will be welcoming a baby girl to their family later this year! To see more of their beautiful summer wedding, check it out here.

Jennifer+Kyle :: I hope your first anniversary is absolutely wonderful! We wish you many, MANY more years of happiness together!

Nan and I go way back. Like wayyyyyyy back. We met in Mrs. Crosby's 2nd grade class, became the best of friends in middle school, I practically lived at her house throughout high school, and we spent most of our weekends together at swim meets, sleepovers, and indulging in chinese food and Ben & Jerry's.

This weekend, I returned to my little hometown to see one of my best friends marry her best friend. When a co-worker convinced Nan that he had the perfect guy for her, she agreed to go on a date and give it a shot. Little did she know that just a few years later, she would be saying "I do" to that blind date and calling him her husband.

Their beautiful winter wedding was held this past Saturday at the Rogers-Green House in Laurel, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

saving the date :: mississippi wedding photographer

Blogging twice within 24 hours... WOAH! It's a big achievement for me just to blog twice in the same week. I'm giving myself a gold star pronto for this one.

Usually, my mailbox is filled with things that go straight through the shredder and to the garbage (credit card apps and penny savers and junk mail, oh my!), so I was thrilled when I opened the mailbox this morning to find a save-the-date from one of my BFFs (yes - i did just use the abbreviation BFF. i'm cool. get over it).

Let me just start by saying how much I love save-the-dates... they've become increasingly popular in the past few years and I really just can't believe it took someone this long to figure out what a novel idea this is. Especially for folks like me travelling clear across four states to make it to this particular wedding, it gives your guests ample time (people... 6 weeks is just not long enough) to make all the necessary travel arrangments.

You wanna know what's even better? You have a plethora of options on how to design and send your save the dates. You can create and send them for free via email through websites like Punchbowl or Evite. Or you can have them designed locally or online in the form of postcards, magnets, booklets and more. You can have save-the-dates featuring an engagement photo, a year-long calendar, or even something as unique as a crossword puzzle all about you and your fiance!

I am personally loving the classy understated elegance of the card featured here in Nan and Jason's save-the-date...

Nancy Claire and I go way back, having met about 15 years ago in Ms. Crosby's 2nd grade class. We lost touch for a few years after we both changed schools, but reunited again in 7th grade at West Jones High School. We've shared lots of memories and traditions over the years... spending long Saturdays at swim meets, gorging ourselves with chinese takeout and Ben & Jerry's, trips to Gulf Shores and lifeguards named Jacques, and many a school-night sleepover pulling all-nighters to finish papers for Ms. Dixon's English class.

I'm so excited and honored to be photographing her winter wedding at the Rogers-Green House in Laurel (you may remember the venue from this wedding), and I know her red (va-va-voom) color scheme is going to be just gorgeous!

Nan+Jason - Enjoy every minute of this crazy wedding planning process... the next few months will fly by and you'll be saying "I do" before you know it :)
