alena + robert :: greensboro wedding photographer

You may remember Alena and Robert from their engagement session on the blog a few months ago. Well, this weekend, Josh and I had the privelege of photographing their beautiful wedding (props once again to Veronica and her team at Behind the Scenes) at the Downtown Marriott in Greensboro, North Carolina.

We loved working with Alena and Robert; they are such a sweet couple and so much fun and their big day showed it. It was complete with a photobooth, a dollar dance (we don't see this tradition very much in the South), and even some breakdancing by the children in attendance (thanks to A&A Disc Jockey for providing some great tunes).

Without further ado, here are a few images from the day...

Shoes, shoes, shoes.... can you tell I love shoes? Especially the sparkly variety.

I knew from their engagement session that it takes some coaxing to get a smile out of Robert for the camera, but he was all smiles all on his own when he saw Alena descend down the aisle.

Alena and Robert - Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the day you became husband and wife. Wishing you all the very best married life has to offer!

the friday five - blog love :: greensboro wedding photographer

*Note: If you follow us on Facebook, you know that this post was supposed to be up last Friday. In the midst of our travels to Charleston, I completely forgot about it. Sorry if you were holding your breath just waiting for the chance to read this post!*

If you're looking for a great way to spend your afternoon after your morning motivation has worn-off and weekend mode has fully kicked in with no hope of you getting a single ounce of work done, I have it for you right here.

There are very few blogs that I actually read religiously, but the ones that I do subscribe to are worth every minute. Here's this week's Friday Five - my top five favorite blogs:

1. Jasmine Star - Let me just tell you, this girl is AMAZING. Jasmine is a California-based wedding photographer, blogger, and all around branding guru, but her blog is not just for fellow photographers or brides. She is an incredibly talented and inspiring writer with words that everyone will enjoy. And she takes gorgeous photos too!

2. The Pioneer Woman - I LOVE this woman, and I want her life. Cowboy, ranch and all. Her blog covers everything from homeschooling to photography to life on the ranch, but let's be real here: the part I'm all about is the food. Every recipe that I've ever made from this woman's blog (or cookbook - thanks to my friend Bridget) is INCREDIBLE. A couple of my all-time favorites are the sherried tomato soup and the blueberry chicken salad, but seriously, you can't go wrong with any recipe here. Disclaimer: if you're looking for healthy or low-fat, this blog is not for you.

3. Style Me Pretty - You just can't deny that this blog is fantastic. It is filled with inspiration for just about any kind of wedding you could possibly imagine. If you're a bride-to-be who has not yet discovered the joys of this blog, I highly suggest you go there NOW.

4. Lara Casey - This lovely lady is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Southern Weddings magazine, as well as the founder of the Making Things Happen movement. Focusing on wedding vendors, but inspiring to all, her blog is all about marketing, branding, and sound business advice, and consider yourself warned, it will light a fire under your rear. Also be sure to check out Making Things Happen on Tumblr.

5. Gray Photography - You've heard me say it before, but I am absolutely obsessed with these photographers. Zach and Jody are just all around great people and have inspired me through their blog to do so much more with photography than I ever could have imagined. This one is a must-read for photographers, aspiring or established, big or small.

There you have it, folks. Now tell me, what are some of your favorite blogs?

Go forth, conquer, and enjoy your weekend, too!

charleston - part two :: greensboro wedding photographer

So continuing on to part two of our Charleston trip...

A few weeks ago, Josh's cousin Buddy from Texas had gotten in touch to see just how far we live from Charleston, since he was going there for a friend's wedding. Because it was too far out of the way for him to come to us, we decided that we would drive down to Charleston for the weekend instead.

On Saturday morning, we met up with Buddy and his family and had a great time exploring the city together. Josh and Buddy hadn't seen each other in a really long time (like 10+ years), I had never even met him, and neither Josh nor I had met his wife, but we all got along like we were old friends.

Cousins.

Buddy and his beautiful and so very sweet wife, Sherry, and below, their itty-bitty baby girl, Abbie... the most precious little princess I've ever seen.

This little one was a trooper all day. Despite the heat, humidity and being hauled all over Charleston, she was perfectly happy just to nap in her stroller.

After getting aquainted and having a dose of Starbucks, we caught a breakdance show on the street...

We spent the rest of the morning just strolling around downtown, checking out the market, and trying not to fry in the heat. We decided to rest a little while by taking a carriage tour...

That was our horse, Kevin. We learned all about Kevin, his likes and dislikes, and his complete schedule for about the first 15 minutes of the tour.

Our tour was of the residential district, which was full of really interesting information that we probably wouldn't have found out just by walking around. Unfortunately, the tour stomped out any hope of ever moving to Charleston, since we were informed that just the normal, moderately sized houses go for about a million bucks. YIKES! We're gonna need to book ALOT more weddings before we reach that goal.

After the tour, we grabbed a late lunch at Hyman's Seafood on Meeting Street, which has apparently been visited by a ton of celebs. Now they can add us to that list :) The seafood was really good, and the fried green tomatoes with creole mayo... YUM.

Unfortunately, this was our last stop of the trip, and we had to part ways, but we will certainly be better about staying in touch with the cousins alot more often. Buddy, Sherry & baby Abbie - we had an awesome time hanging out with y'all and we can't wait to see you again (hopefully very soon). Watch out Texas, here we come!
