married | alise and adam | winston-salem wedding photographer

Alise and Adam hold a special place in my heart for a couple of reasons: 1. they were referred to me by one of my all-time favorite couples, Erin and Aaron, and 2. they were my very last wedding before my extended maternity leave that I've just returned from over two years (!!) later. At the time I photographed their wedding, I was only a few short weeks away from meeting my little guy, but Alise and Adam made the swollen ankles and limited endurance of shooting a wedding at 8+ months pregnant all worth it.

These two are so absolutely full of life and love. They couldn't keep from smiling at each other all day long (the BEST reaction for two people getting married to have), and their celebration with friends and family was just purely joyous. Their wedding took place in downtown Winston-Salem, where they live and work, so I met up with Alise and her girls first at the Embassy Suites where they were getting ready...

At this point, it should be a surprise to no one how much I adore a first look. These two were just giddy with the excitement of seeing one another.

married | ryan and kristen | asheville wedding photographer

I first got to know Ryan and Kristen when I photographed their engagement session the year before their wedding, and from the start, I appreciated how comfortable they were just being themselves in front of the camera and the trust they put in me as their photographer. When their wedding day arrived, it was a bit of a rainy and dreary day at the Mountain Magnolia Inn in Hot Springs, nestled outside of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but I assured Kristen that a little fog and mist wouldn't hurt us. In fact, I'm a little in love with the moody, romantic feel it lended to the day and the photographs from it...

That first emotional moment where the bride begins the descent down the aisle never fails to get me...

I absolutely loved that Ryan made his special hot sauce as favors for each of the guests! Nothing like a little personal touch...

One of my favorite moments of a wedding day is sneaking away from the noise and chaos to snap a few final images of just the bride and groom...

an update on business and life

Goodness, friends! The past seven months since I last blogged have been a whirlwind, and as you can see, this site has been more than a little neglected. Becoming a mother and returning overseas turned my life as I knew it upside down, but now that I'm nine months in to life with our little guy, I'm ready to get back in the swing of things. Now, before we get down to the nitty-gritty and in case you were wondering what our sweet boy looks like these days, here's a photo from his most recent session with mommy :) If you'd like, you can find more personal photos and updates on my lifestyle blog!

First things first, we will officially be returning to North Carolina at the end of next June, so I will be booking events and portrait sessions taking place from August 2017 onward. I will be accepting a very limited number of weddings going forward, as it is of the utmost importance to me to give each client the care and attention they deserve while also being an attentive and present wife and mother for my family. If you are planning your wedding for summer/fall 2017 or later and would like more information, please get in touch! 

Secondly, in between moving from the U.S. to Germany, returning last fall, having a baby, and moving back overseas earlier this year, several events and sessions failed to make it to the blog. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be playing catch-up and posting some of these beautiful memories, so stay tuned.
