During our time in Germany, I had the pleasure of photographing a few mini-sessions for some fellow expat families. Not only did it allow me to keep my photography skills fresh, but I met some of the loveliest souls in doing so. We lived so close to this beautiful park, and I lugged my gear across on a sunny morning to capture the Holzwarths.

Much like us, they moved to Aachen with their two kids for a job opportunity. Devon is not only an amazing mother, but she is also a talented artist, with a focus in children's illustration. Check out her work here.

My favorite way to photograph families is to just let them interact naturally and allow kids to be kids. The results are fewer tears and grumpy faces and more beautiful moments like these...

I always like to sneak a photo or two of just mom and dad into each session. They were, after all, the originals :)

father-daughter mini session | greensboro family photographer

When Randy inquired about scheduling a portrait session for him and his daughter as a Mother's Day gift to his wife, I was more than happy to oblige. Mini-sessions are my #1 recommendation for parents with young kids - I know all too well how short their attention spans really are, having a toddler myself now. A brief session avoids burnout and prevents them from having too much time to get tired or hangry :) 

It's always my advice to parents at these sessions to just relax and let their kids play and do their thing. The photos will happen, but we all know that kids are the worst for the parents and the slightest command to smile can send a two year old into a downward spiral. Thankfully, Randy and his adorable Olivia were more than happy to wander Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens in Greensboro just stopping to smell the flowers...

oh baby :: oliver and miles :: marietta lifestyle photographer

Last week, in spite of snow and nasty weather, I was able to make the trek down to the Atlanta area to capture this sweet family in their home. You may remember Jose and Melissa from their maternity session back in October, and in December, they welcomed their twin boys into the world.

These babies are wayyyy cuter than anything I could possibly say here, so without further ado, Miles and Oliver ...

Baby sneezes are just so cute!

I am in love with this photo of Melissa in the nursery... there's nothing sweeter than the way a new mom looks at her babies.

Jose+Melissa :: Thank you for letting me into your home and life to preserve these sweet moments! I can't wait to watch you guys grow as mom and dad to Miles and Oliver, and I know that you will be two of the most fun parents around.
